Online Somatic Psychotherapy

for Individuals

I can help you…

  • Silhouette of a face with a shadow.

to recover from the shadows of traumas that are overwhelming you and creating distress.

  • Silhouette of a face surrounded by swirling purple lines.

learn how to better regulate your emotions during and before triggers, to enable you to feel more calm and competent.

  • Silhouette of a four faces in varying shades of grey with a feeling of movement.

explore how your bodily sensations are connected to your history, helping you to slow down the treadmill of repetitive emotional and physical distress

What to expect:

We usually meet weekly, for 50 minutes, over video. I combine validation and space to talk along with concrete tools and guidance, so you're not just venting, you're building skills. Some weeks I may suggest a short practice between sessions (journaling, a somatic exercise, some reading) to help you further.

I will assist you to mindfully notice your body's impulses, intuitions, and wisdom while also practicing unwinding habits and patterns that no longer serve you.

You will learn to sustainably replace outdated conditioning with new tools and habits that can transform your inner and outer worlds.

Your entire self - including your bodies, spirit, traumas, pleasures, resiliency, and ancestors are welcomed.

“Madeline has been the best therapist of my life. That’s not hyperbolic! And I’ve had A LOT of therapists because of an extensive history of abuse as a child. Madeline has helped me understand myself, and the forces that were shaping my self image, in ways that have allowed me to know who really lived underneath all that noise. I am eternally grateful for Madeline‘s nonjudgmental, open and thoughtful approach to healing.”

What Somatic Therapy Looks Like

If you've tried talk therapy before and felt like you understood your patterns intellectually but still couldn't shift them, please know that somatic therapy works differently. Instead of only talking about what happened, we track what's happening in your body right now: tension, breath, posture, sensation, which assists you to process trauma, anxiety, and stuck patterns at the level where they actually live.

I'm a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, trained in the approach developed by Peter Levine. Everyday I work with adults, across California via telehealth, and see it work.

People come to this Somatic Experiencing for things like:

  • Trauma and C-PTSD recovery, including relational and childhood trauma

  • Chronic anxiety, dissociation, or feeling "stuck" despite years of therapy

  • Highly sensitive people (HSPs) navigating overwhelm, burnout, or overstimulation

  • Queer, trans, and non-binary clients needing to work on institutional, and cultural trauma

  • Activists and organizers processing burnout, vicarious trauma, or nervous system dysregulation

  • Adult children of emotionally immature parents suffering from their attachment and relational patterns

Sessions blend Somatic Experiencing should always paced to your nervous system, never forced.

Somatic Experiencing

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, I collaborate with my clients so that they may track their own experiences more effectively, help them to create a larger container for their emotions in order to be better regulated, and to create new, more adaptive neural pathways that let them show up more fully in their lives.

“Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.”
